Minimum Wage in Illinois, Cook County and City of Chicago 2024

The minimum wage for Illinois is $14.00 per hour effective January 1, 2024.
Cook County's minimum wage is equal to the state minimum wage of $14.00 per hour.
The City of Chicago's minimum wage is maintained as of July 2023 at $15.80 if the company has more than 20 employees and $15.00 if the company has 4 to 20 employees.
Both Cook County and the City of Chicago's minimum wage will increase depending on inflation per year and this will be announced in July of each year.

* If tipped workers do not make up the statutory minimum wage, the employer must make up the shortfall.
-In Illinois the wage will increase by one dollar each year until it reaches $15.00 per hour by 2025. In Cook County the following cities opted to comply with the minimum wage ordinance: Barrington, Berwyn, Countryside, Deerfield, Dolton, Evanston, Glencoe, Kenilworth, McCook, Northfield, Oak Brook, Oak Park, Phoenix, Skokie, University Park, Western Springs, Wilmette & Winnetka. The other cities maintain the state minimum wage.
